Balcones Park is home to some of the finest mid-century modern homes in Austin. Many homes here were commissioned by professors at the newly formed University of Texas School of Architecture back in the early 1950s. Mount Bonnell, a prominent hill overlooking Lake Austin and the Pennybacker Bridge, is one of the highest points in the neighborhood.
